The ABBA Arena - a Stratford star
Witness ABBA’s virtual reality reunion tour, ABBA Voyage, for yourself at Stratford’s very own Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
- 23 Apr 2024
ABBA Arena, the purpose-built, state-of-the-art venue for the legendary band’s virtual reality reunion tour ABBA Voyage, has become an iconic destination showcasing the band’s first performances after over 40 years.
Easy to access, fans come from all over the world to Stratford, East London to witness the incredible performances by cutting-edge digital avatars.
The state-of-the-art arena seats 3,000 people, with 291 surround sound speakers and blurs the lines between live performance and “Avatar” technology. The stars of ABBA “perform”, in “ABBAtar” form for over 90 minutes, with songs not only from ABBA’s last album ”Voyage” released in 2021, but classics like Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia.
The “ABBAtars” themselves were created by Industrial Light and Magic, a George Lucas company, who used motion-capture technology with the band members themselves to accurately mimic their behaviours. The production of the concert in East London is down to Svana Gisla, who has worked with the likes of Beyonce and David Bowie.
Performances run from Thursdays to Mondays, with extra dates added for festive periods. There are several seating types to cater to your preferred concert experience, including the Dance Floor category, where you’ll be the closest to the stage and free to dance as you please; Dance Booths for private parties of up to 12 people as well as auditorium and accessible seating.
Looking to make a day of it? Wander through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with its 560 acres of glorious parkland and gardens set alongside restored waterways. Shop at Westfield or discover one of the many bars or Stratford restaurants where you can enjoy a drink or meal before the show.
